Greetings from Soroptimist International of the Kachinas, a dynamic group of business and professional women in the Phoenix west valley who strive to make a difference in the lives of women and girls.

Our ADVOCACY focuses on local groups like Hope for Hunger in Glendale and D.I.G.N.I.T.Y. in Phoenix as well as international programs like Free the Girls in Mozambique, Africa, and Birthing in the Pacific in Papua New Guinea.

Our SERVICE projects include sending care packages to female soldiers stationed overseas, making no-sew blankets for local shelters, and collecting school supplies for new teachers in low-income school districts.

We also award thousands of dollars each year in monetary grants to young women in high school who are making a difference in their communities, to women head of households who are furthering their educations, and to people or organizations working to make a difference in the lives of women.

We aren't your typical service organization: to qualify for membership in Soroptimist you need only have a passion for helping others. We are women at our best, helping women and girls achieve their best. So, are you a woman who believes in giving back to the community and who is willing to share her enthusiasm, diverse ideas, and unique life experiences? If so, we would like to meet you!

Soroptimist is a great way to build new friendships, gain valuable job proficiencies,
develop organizational skills, take on leadership roles, make professional connections, network with other women, and even travel to new places--all while making the world a better place for women and girls.

Soroptimist International of the Kachinas members Jackie Doerr, Melissa Swearingen, Eileen Birin, and Virginia Corder at a recent protest in front of the Phoenix offices for Village Voice Media. Protesters gathered to publicly object VVM's practice of allowing online classified ads for so-called adult services on its website backpage*dot*com; these advertisements often include services of minor girls.
Soroptimist International of the Kachinas oppose all forms of modern day slavery, most especially domestic minor sex trafficking (the illegal prostitution of minor children for sex in the United States).
